    sounds like: Gageego!

Gageego! is going south – but actually not that far from home. Still on the West Coast, the ensemble visits Dunkers kulturhus to launch a new concert series, sounds like.

Dunkers kulturhus is an attractive destination for anyone interested in art and culture in the Öresund region and Sweden. Now, the venue highlights the best of contemporary music and lets it get the spotlight it deserves.

Gageego! brings all of their skill and energy, a selection of contemporary favorites to perform, and a whole lot of instruments too – flute, oboe, clarinet, bass clarinet, bassoon, horn, trumpet, trombone, all sorts of percussion, harp, violin, violin, cello, double bass and voice.

    The Music of Conflict: Moscow

The chamber music ensemble Gageego! continue their exploration of the metropolises of contemporary music. This time, they contrast the music, composers and cities with ongoing or past conflicts – political as well as artistic.

Jerusalem, Moscow, Madrid and Darmstadt will bear witness to how widely separate expressions can still portray the same struggle, the same experience. This musical exposé in four sections highlights the openly political, the sweet poetical and the austerely introverted. As usual, Gageego! approach their subject with eyes wide open – welcome!

Composer introduction at 17.00 included in ticket price.

Gageego A Tale of Four Cities 3 London
One has to assume that landing number 3 on Gageego!’s journey to European capitals takes place at Heathrow.

We’ll be received by the genial and sharp-witted Oliver Knussen who immediately gets the listeners’ attention with his ingenious pieces. The public and medial Thomas Adès lends the concert a continental character, and a cool work by Swedish Albert Schnelzer is also presented: Wolfgang is Dancing! We can guess who it’s about; he evidently knew a thing or two about dancing as well!

    Programme

    Albert Schnelzer Wolfgang is Dancing!

The Swedish national radio – Sveriges Radio – recently broadcast a Gageego! feature, combining recordings from two recent concerts; A Tale of Four Cities – Paris and Jubileumskonserten.

Radio host Sofie Almroth’s introductions will regrettably be lost on Non-Swedish-speaking listeners, but using the player below, you can easily skip to the music (which begins at 2:15).

It starts off with spectral music (or is it sounds of breathing and heart beats?), produced by two bass drums…

You will hear close to two hours of fresh music signed, among others, Karen Tanaka, Klas Torstensson, Joakim Sandgren, Benjamin Staern, Per Mårtensson, Grisey and Romitelli.

Streams only available for a limited time.
