The violent, the fragile, the high-tech and the existential.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n

In STHLM Blue Tide, we welcome what defies fixed categories \u2013 music and musicians that do not lend themselves easily to classification. The Gothenburg-based contemporary music ensemble Gageego! has been just an experimental force like that in Sweden since 1995. <\/p>\n\n

Esaias J\u00e4rnegard\u2019s music moves between the extremely fragile and the strikingly tangible. In tunnlar. diken. gravar. (\u201ctunnels. ditches. graves.\u201d), the title suggests an underground geography and music that digs its way forward. The Italian composer Clara Iannotta often transforms instruments: in Eclipse Plumage, for example, an \u201canti-machine\u201d takes centre stage \u2013 designed to generate magnetic fields around the piano strings, creating invisible forces. <\/p>\n\n

Jesper Nordin combines traditional craftsmanship with cutting-edge technology. Surfaces scintillantes explores the relationship between surface and depth. The work is based on improvisations on a digital instrument, later \u201cpolished\u201d to create the shimmering, delicate textures suggested by the title. Rebecca Saunders, by contrast, works with an extreme physical intensity: Fury II is a concerto for solo double bass and ensemble, depicting a state of rage. <\/p>\n\n

The concert reaches its culmination in the world premiere of a new work by Djuro Zivkovic \u2013 Konserthuset\u2019s Composer-in-Residence, whose music often moves between virtuosity and the deeply spiritual.<\/p>\n\n
