The Norrbotten NEO ensemble

Gageego! start their season with well established contemporary music. Some of the dreamiest music you can hear.

Alongside Norrbotten NEO, they perform American, British and Italian works that have been performed and loved again and again on the big concert stages of the world.

Helen Grime is one of the best established, young, British composers of today. Her pieces have been performed at BBC Proms, and opened the London Symphony Orchestra’s 2017/2018 concert season. She is a worthy opener of Gageego!’s concert series in every sense.

This particular concert offers several well-known names such as John Cage and Morton Feldman. It’s music that gives you space to think, sense, dream, experience. In that sense, the concert is not just a meeting with new music and fantastic musicians; the attentive listener will meet both themselves and Narcissus, the god who fell in love with his own reflection and was turned into a narcissus flower.

Norrbotten NEO have spent around 10 years at the front edge of chamber music, with a national task to work for contemporary chamber music. This evening, they’ll meet their colleagues from the west.
